About Bucky Badger

The Story Behind the Name: Bucky Badger is the University of Wisconsin – Madison mascot. Jamie Rosenbaum is a avid University of Wisconsin sports fan, a biological conservation major at Wisconsin and a lifelong fan of marine life, especially sharks. Jamie and her dad (Mike – also a University of Wisconsin Graduate) participated in a shark tagging expedition on Saturday June 1st off the coast of Islamorada. After catching four sandbar sharks, we were lucky enough to catch and tag a 10ft tiger shark. By combining her love of sharks and University of Wisconsin, Jamie decided to name the beautiful tiger shark after her favorite mascot – Bucky Badger.
