The Story Behind the Name: Lester was one of the 16 sharks tagged on the Bahamas Research Expedition in February 2011 with Jim Abernethy’s Scuba Adventures, Inc. As such, each team member was given the opportunity to name a shark.
SRC Ph.D. Student and Research Assistant Austin Gallagher chose to honor his grandfather Lester with this shark. Dedicated and passionate, Lester and Austin share a common work ethic. They both work hard for what they believe in. And in Austin’s words, his grandfather always has faith — in himself, in others, in our world.
